Welcome, parents of preschoolers ages 30 months through 5 years. Steele Street Preschool embraces a child’s natural curiosity and sense of wonder. We strive to develop the social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual and physical potential of each child, while encouraging them to incorporate their unique personalities in building relationships with others.

Make sure your child is fully prepared before entering elementary school! Steele Street Preschool, located in Denver, Colorado, offers half day and full day preschool for youngsters preparing to go into kindergarten.
Our Philosophy
Steele Street Preschool believes there should be a bridge between home and school, so we create a safe and trusting environment similar to home to ease the transition for children. Parent communication and involvement is also a top priority. At least twice a month we have parent get-togethers. Hanging out with each other and building a community feeling among the participants is the first half of the time. For the last half of the time, we then have a speaker come provide information for parents regarding health, nutrition, and redirection of behaviors, and any relevant child development information.
The early childhood education program at Steele Street Preschool believes children need a learning environment that is safe, nurturing, motivational and creative to bring out the best of each child’s learning potential.  Steele Street staff recognize that family involvement is an essential part of providing continuity and continued growth for the learning experience.  Daily life at Steele Street includes experiential learning and play, making social connections, opportunities for exploration and discovery, circle and group time, opportunities for self-directed time, daily discussions and activities with music and movement. The staff focus on a holistic approach that includes social, emotional physical and intellectual growth through an eclectic approach combining best practice/evidence based activities from:   the Waldorf Approach, Montessori Approach,  High/Scope Approach and the Bank Street Approach. The staff draws from their own experience and research with evidence based/best practice curriculum and activities as well.
The staff at Steele Street Preschool prioritize the awareness and accomplishment of child developmental tasks such as building healthy connections based on trust and mutual respect, encouraging healthy and appropriate autonomy and self-governance, and nurturing initiative and self-confidence through hands-on experiential activities that are integrated into a child’s sense of worth and self-esteem.

Full day sessions run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. We provide the morning session curriculum, plus in the afternoon session we have more child-directed learning and group play, outside time involving conflict resolution skills development, and water and sensory play. In the afternoon session, we also support individualized art projects using easels and watercolors. The older children are allowed to use their own ideas to create art projects using their own selection of materials. Lunch is also provided with this session.  (Beginning Fall 2019, Half Day will be 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and Full Day will be Monday –Thursday, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.)
